- a history of fatphobia and its origins in racism and ableism
- deconstructing what diet and wellness culture is
- the impact of societal and personal values towards weight and food on client and therapist
- lived experiences of being fat clients and therapists, explore your client work in session.
Facilitator Profiles:
Jo Reader MSc Coun Dip Coun Sup MBACP (Accred.) Jo is a person-centred HAES-aligned and LGBTQIA-welcoming psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice. She is also a School Counsellor with a 30-year background working with schools, teenagers and parents and offers Therapeutic Consultations with parents who want to support their children’s mental health. Jo published research in 2014 about weight stigma in therapy.
Cat Chappell Prof Dip MBACP (Accred.)Cat is a relational integrative counsellor and supervisor with a background in working with trauma as a result of domestic abuse and sexual violence. She works in an anti-diet and fat positive way with clients who struggle with body issues.
