CaPPP CPD event Saturday 12th June 2021 at Engineer’s House
Mari will explain and facilitate exercises to explore how your body senses inform you and your client unconsciously and consciously. When you gain familiarity in simple ways with your own body’s sensory language, you can voluntarily choose to engage and resource yourself and your client creatively in times of challenge.
The day will be discursive and experiential, introducing three realms of body senses which can be utilised as resource for therapists and to support clients in deepening and resourcing their experiences in therapy.
Mari draws on her training and practice in experiential anatomy and Integrative Body and Movement Therapy to inform her style of teaching. She will also explore briefly Stephen Porges and Deb Dana’s work around understanding how our body senses detect and respond to threat and to safety in environments and relationships.
Mari Winkelman is an integrative embodied therapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor offering embodied therapy to individuals in Stroud, Glos and online. She has been in practice as a therapist since 2008.
Mari has facilitated group embodiment and movement practices in person since 2012 and online since lockdown.
Her personal and professional experience and training background is in somatic movement and psychosynthesis counselling. These mutually enriching modalities underpin her approach to relationship with her own body and with her clients and students. With this understanding, she tailors body awareness and the creative resources of embodied relational practices into her facilitation. www.mariwinkelman.com
